Countries in the Middle East have become familiar to Vietnamese enterprises and people. Vietnamese goods are now present in countries such as the UAE (United Arab Emirates), Kuwait, Israel, and Egypt. Vietnamese overseas workers have been diligently working in Kuwait, Qatar, Dubai, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.

In 2010, with the efforts of the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and labor export enterprises, 86,000 workers were sent to work abroad, exceeding the set target. Optimistic signals from labor markets in various countries in 2011 provide a basis for forecasting that labor export will improve, and the target of sending 87,000 people to work abroad is within reach.

Contrary to pessimistic forecasts regarding Vietnam’s labor export situation in 2011 following the crises in Africa and the Middle East, the target of sending 87,000 workers abroad this year appears highly achievable at this point in time.

Mr. Takeshi Fukuda, Chairman of the Kanto Information Industry Cooperative Society (Japan), made that statement in a recent interview with a reporter from Người Lao Động Newspaper.

The target set for 2010 was to send 85,000 workers abroad, but by the end of November, labor export enterprises had only sent nearly 76,000 people. With the final month of the year nearing its end, it is almost certain that 2010 will become the second consecutive year in which labor export fails to meet its plan.

With a training program consisting of unified standards, Vietnamese workers going abroad for employment will be equipped more comprehensively before entering the international labor market.
