Over 190,000 Vietnamese workers have gone to work in Malaysia. Currently, 138 Vietnamese enterprises are actively developing the labor export market in this country.

According to a report by the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, 138 Vietnamese enterprises are currently licensed to send workers to Malaysia. Since 2002, more than 190,000 Vietnamese workers have been employed in 12 out of Malaysia’s 13 states, mainly in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, services, and domestic work, with relatively stable incomes.

Malaysia highly appreciates Vietnamese workers for their diligence, hard work, quick adaptability, and willingness to work overtime. However, some Vietnamese workers still show limitations in language skills, compliance with labor discipline, and adherence to dormitory regulations.

To stabilize and further develop the Malaysian market, the Vietnam Labor Management Board in Malaysia has proposed several solutions, including directing enterprises to carefully inspect and select partners and job orders before signing contracts; strictly handling enterprises that violate legal regulations; and focusing on labor sourcing, training, and providing necessary pre-departure knowledge for workers before they go abroad.

In addition, the Department of Overseas Labor has recommended that the Malaysian Labor Department closely inspect and supervise enterprises employing Vietnamese workers in fulfilling their contracts, facilitate insurance procedures for workers, and strictly handle employers who fail to renew work permits for Vietnamese workers.
