Workers will receive better support after the program is implemented
The program implemented by VAMAS includes the provision of a training curriculum effectively supported by multimedia illustrations that are user-friendly on computers, together with a two-day training workshop for trainers.
This program will be applied to labor export companies nationwide, training more than 160 trainers from now until the end of 2010 in order to improve the qualifications of Vietnamese workers preparing to work in Taiwan, the U.A.E., and Libya. At the same time, the program will also print a handbook of essential knowledge for workers going to work in these markets, which will be provided free of charge to workers.
“In today’s dynamic economic environment, developing a globally competitive workforce equipped with adequate knowledge, skills, awareness, and proper behavior to continuously adapt to the increasingly high requirements of the labor market is extremely important,” said Mr. Nguyen Luong Trao, Chairman of VAMAS.
“Agribank is very honored to sponsor a program that is truly useful for Vietnamese workers going abroad for employment,” shared Mr. Nguyen Tien Dong, Deputy General Director of Agribank. “We are very pleased to participate in this meaningful program and hope to join the Western Union Foundation in more similar community service activities in the coming time.”
This is the first year Agribank has participated in the Western Union Foundation’s Agent Giving Circles program. This program aims to help migrant workers and their families turn their dreams into reality.
Through this program, contributions from agents will be used carefully to maximize benefits for local communities.
Ms. Drina Yue, Managing Director and Senior Vice President for Asia-Pacific at Western Union, affirmed: “We always bring Vietnamese workers the best training programs to help them better prepare and be ready to integrate into a new culture. We believe these programs will help them quickly stabilize their lives and work.”
The participation of Agribank and the Western Union Foundation in VAMAS’s program is a continuation of Western Union’s initial cooperation initiative with the Department of Overseas Labor Management (DOLAB), which began in 2007, to support Vietnamese citizens working abroad by providing training materials and courses in skills, foreign languages, culture, and other knowledge about the countries/territories where they will work.
To date, communication handbooks have been distributed to tens of thousands of Vietnamese workers going to work in South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Qatar.
