In response to the complicated political developments in several North African countries, the Department of Overseas Labor has just sent an official dispatch to enterprises sending workers to work in Africa, requesting them to implement measures to protect Vietnamese workers currently working on this continent.
Accordingly, enterprises must urgently review the total number of workers they have sent to work in Africa, review their partners, construction sites where Vietnamese workers are working, contact addresses, etc. In addition, enterprises are required to direct their representative officers in Africa, if any, to closely monitor the situation and immediately report to the Vietnamese embassies in the host countries for guidance and timely support in handling any issues.
According to the Department of Overseas Labor, apart from Libya in North Africa, where more than 10,000 workers have been brought back home, the number of Vietnamese workers sent to Africa for overseas employment is not large. Only a small number have gone to markets such as Algeria, Mozambique, and Angola, mainly working in construction and agriculture.
