According to the relevant authorities, in the first three months of this year, 19,814 Vietnamese workers went abroad for employment. Traditional labor export markets will continue to be maintained.
The Department of Overseas Labor said that in March alone, Vietnam sent 6,943 workers abroad. Of these, 2,998 went to Taiwan, 1,563 to South Korea, 236 to Japan, 842 to Malaysia, 491 to Laos, 43 to the UAE, 92 to Saudi Arabia, 256 to Macao, 278 to Cambodia, and 144 to other markets.
Accordingly, the total number of Vietnamese workers sent abroad in the first three months of the year reached 19,814. Dao Cong Hai, Director of the Department of Overseas Labor, said that traditional markets such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Malaysia would continue to be maintained and would keep receiving large numbers of Vietnamese workers.
In particular, Malaysia will be further promoted, as demand for labor there is currently very high, mainly in sectors such as electronics, automobile parts manufacturing, plastics, leather and footwear, and garment production. Around 100,000 Vietnamese workers are currently working in this market.
In Taiwan, Vietnam is one of the four countries with the largest number of workers employed there. Of these, 56.44% work in manufacturing and production, 42% work in patient care and domestic work, while the remainder work in other fields such as construction and seafaring. Workers’ income in Taiwan is about USD 500 per month for domestic workers and USD 650–700 for factory workers and caregivers. After deducting living expenses in Taiwan, workers can send home an average of USD 300–350.
Regarding Malaysia, according to leaders of the Department of Overseas Labor, although wages are not high, averaging about VND 2–2.5 million per month, it is a relatively accessible market with the capacity to receive many Vietnamese workers. It is suitable for Vietnam’s labor skill level and provides opportunities for many rural and low-income workers to work overseas. Statistics show that more than 100 labor export service enterprises are currently sending workers to Malaysia.
